Every item on a breakfast menu is just a combination of breakfast foods. The result is a long search for the right combination. The "Three Egg Breakfast" might come with three eggs, sausage or bacon, and toast. The "Traditional Breakfast" might consist of two eggs, bacon or sausage, and breakfast potatoes.
Instead, breakfast menus should be purely al a carte. There are a limited number of breakfast foods, so it would be quite easy to do. There would also have to be no pricing gimmicks, to simplify further.
Think of how much easier it would be. The menu would be smaller, there could be more room for pictures, and food could be cheaper. Instead of searching around for the combination you want, it would be as simple as ordering three eggs, two bacon strips, and two pieces of white toast. Oh, and apple juice.
Love the idea but the only problem is that Americans like other people to make their decisions for them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4ZLLny9dYk
ReplyDeleteThis is a valid point. I feel like most restaurants can cook pretty much anything you want them to, and the menus are only there for ideas. I would be interested to test the purely al a carte menu in a restaurant, and see how many people are unable to make their own decisions as far as amount of food, balance, etc.
