The Haircut Cycle

There is only a small region between haircuts where someone's hair is at optimal length.  Right after a haircut, the hair is oddly short, and right before one, it gets too long.  I have drawn a graph to help visualize this cycle:

The solution to staying in the "optimum length" region for a longer period of time is to get more frequent haircuts.  Of course this can be a bother, so I have invented a solution to make haircuts quicker and more efficient.

Introducing the Haircutting Machine.  Remember those static electricity machines in museums that make your hair stand on end?  Applying this concept, my haircutting machine uses a computer controlled cutting device to slice your hairs in the correct locations.  A touchscreen would allow the user to choose from a variety of pre-programmed hairstyles.  During the cutting process itself, it could double as a media-viewing device, hopefully distracting the attention of the user from the high-speed saw blade right above their head.

Added bonus: no more awkward conversations with the person cutting your hair.
