Fake Finish Line Joke

Along the lines of an ImprovEverywhere skit, it would be entertaining to set up a fake finish line along a running path.  Using some tape, or whatever finish lines are made of, stretch it out across the path, and write "FINISH" on it.  Gather a crowd along both sides at the end, telling them to cheer when the runner approaches.  That way, when the next runner comes along, they will have the satisfaction of winning a race even though they were just running by themselves.

Potential flaws include too good of acting, resulting in the runner thinking they are actually part of a real race.  With this mindset, they might stop or try to avoid the finish line, ruining the joy-spreading plan.  To counter this, someone would need to be set up earlier in the path in order to tell them that it's a fun joke and they should play along.
