Pandora Knows Me So Well!

The comment "Pandora knows me so well!" is funnier the more you think about it.  (If you don't know what Pandora is, click HERE.)

My first reaction is "Yeah, because it collects data about you without you knowing."

Once I think about it a little more, it's funny because of the contrast between being an individual and being like everyone else.  Pandora guesses what songs you would like based on your ratings of previous songs, and comparing that to their database of what everyone else likes and dislikes.  For example, if they found that 85% of people who like "Party in the USA" also like "Tik Tok", then they are more likely to play one of those songs after you liked the other.  In this sense, Pandora assumes you are very predictable, which is how they make it seem like they know you so well.

And once you think about it too much, it stops being funny and becomes quite the opposite.
